The Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology at Yarmouk University won first place in the 10th annual Hakim Academy competition, organized by the Health Computing Company in the field of healthcare technology excellence.

The winning team was composed of students from Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Information Technology, and the Faculty of Computer Science, including Tamara Al-Azzam and Fares Maqbel from Hijjawi, Rasha Bani Salameh from Pharmacy, and Saad Al-Tamari from Information Technology. The team worked under the supervision of Dr. Qasem Qananweh, from the Department of Biomedical Systems and Informatics Engineering at Hijjawi Faculty.

Their winning project, titled “Epilepsy Track,” is an intelligent system designed to monitor epilepsy patients and improve their quality of life. By integrating sensor technologies, data analytics, and smartphone applications, the system enables real-time patient tracking, seizure prediction, and timely medical assistance.

Dr. Qasem Qananweh emphasized that this achievement highlights the importance of applying medical technology to support the healthcare sector and showcases the role of innovation and research in developing practical solutions that improve patients’ lives.

Dean of the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Dr. Mohammad Alzubaidi, expressed pride in the students’ achievement, noting that winning first place in a national-level competition reflects the university’s excellence, the competence of its students and faculty, and its role as a hub for creativity and innovation in engineering and medical fields. He added that such achievements advance the university’s contribution to society and the healthcare sector through applied scientific research.
