Hijjawi Faculty First Annual Alumni and Career Forum - Day 1
On behalf of the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, the Ministry’s Secretary-General, Engineer Samira Al-Zoubi, attended the opening of the First Annual Alumni and Career Forum, organized by the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology at Yarmouk University, in the presence of the Acting President of Yarmouk University, Dr. Mousa Rababah.
Al-Zoubi expressed her pride in the capabilities and competitiveness of Jordanian youth at both the regional and global levels, noting that this first forum of the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology serves as a vital platform for linking educational outputs with labor market requirements, and providing students and graduates with direct communication opportunities with public and private sector institutions, thereby enhancing their chances of obtaining quality jobs in the fields of technology and innovation.
She stressed that the Ministry places youth at the heart of its strategic plans to address employment challenges, through implementing specialized training programs and equipping them with globally recognized digital skills and professional certifications from major technology companies such as Microsoft and Amazon Web Services, in line with the rapid technological advancements.
Al-Zoubi pointed out that these efforts fall within the Ministry’s vision to empower youth and motivate them to transform their ideas into scalable and competitive entrepreneurial projects, urging students to take advantage of these initiatives and programs as a real opportunity to shape their professional future.
For his part, Dr. Rababah stated that this forum brings together the legacy of knowledge and the strength of youth, combining yesterday’s achievements with tomorrow’s aspirations. He emphasized that it is not just an annual event, but a genuine platform for communication, a bridge connecting the university with the labor market, and an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the expertise of the university’s creative graduates and the needs of national and international institutions.
He noted that since its establishment, the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology has been a hub for producing competencies, refining skills, and supplying the engineering and technology sector in Jordan and the region. He affirmed Yarmouk University’s pride in the distinguished achievements of its graduates across various professional fields.
Rababah stressed that Yarmouk University has always been, and will remain, a beacon of science and knowledge in our beloved homeland—not merely an educational institution, but a home for scholars, a laboratory for ideas, and a haven for ambitious dreams—where the future is crafted by creative hands, and the concepts of leadership and excellence are embodied in all their dimensions.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Mohammad Alzubaidi, affirmed that the Faculty believes a competitive engineer is not built through lectures alone, but through the actual integration of theory and practice, supported by modern laboratories, local and international field training, and the guidance of distinguished academic staff who accompany the student throughout their journey.
He pointed out that the Faculty’s academic plans include courses in career readiness, artificial intelligence, and language learning, with opportunities to earn internationally recognized industrial certifications, all within a vibrant student environment that shapes leaders before engineers.
Delivering the alumni speech, Tamby Al-Askar emphasized that he and his colleagues learned from engineering how to break down complex problems into simpler components, design innovative solutions from scratch, and think analytically in a way that allows them to see both the big picture and fine details simultaneously. He explained that this mindset enables engineers to adapt quickly to changing challenges in today’s world, both personally and professionally.
Al-Askar shared a glimpse of his professional journey, noting that it is the result of the strong foundation built by the Hijjawi Faculty within its graduates. He highlighted his career path from purely technical roles to becoming the Regional Director for the Middle East at a leading manufacturer of communications equipment for control and command centers.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Faculty inaugurated its Career Development Unit and launched its first initiative, “Your Path to Employment,” aimed at preparing graduates for the labor market by enhancing their soft skills, enabling them to excel professionally, compete effectively, and secure distinguished employment and training opportunities. The Unit also seeks to guide students towards entrepreneurship and the creation of their own projects.
At the conclusion of the first day of the forum, Vice President of the University for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Yousef Obeidat, in the presence of the Dean of the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Prof. Mohammad Alzubaidi, honored the sponsors, participants, and winners of the “Your Path to Career” competition. Dr. Obeidat also honored distinguished graduates, the top students of the 46th cohort at the Faculty level, as well as outstanding staff members of the Faculty.
